Golden Valley Development’s key innovators recognised in South West Business Insider

In more great news for the project, several key innovators working with the Golden Valley Development have been included in the South West Business Insider’s Property Powerlist, highlighting the 50 leading individuals in the commercial property sector who have made their mark in the South West. Tim Atkins, Managing Director for Place and Growth at Cheltenham Borough Council, achieved second place for his work in driving forward the £1bn project. Meanwhile, Gordon Isgrove, Principal at Avison Young, who has assisted in phase one of the project and James Digby, Head of the South West Region at HBD (one part of the preferred developer joint venture), came in at 11th and 24th respectively.

As Project Lead for the Golden Valley Development, Tim has navigated the Development’s growth and achievements since 2015, going on to steer through the critical procurement process resulting in the preferred developer announcement in July 2021.

Commenting on his achievement, Tim Atkins said:

“The Golden Valley Development will play a key role in the Council’s post-Covid plans, providing opportunities for green recovery that will benefit those in Gloucestershire and the wider region. Although the accolade has been given to me, it really is a team effort and great recognition for the people that work with me on this project. We are now taking steps towards our future to help make our ambitious plans a reality, creating a space where both innovation and communities prosper.”

In the same edition, the Golden Valley Development was cited in a feature focusing on the evolution of business and science parks. In the feature, Gordon Isgrove said:

“Once Cyber Central is completed, if it looks and feels like a business park, then we will have failed to achieve the vision we have set out to secure... Housing, amenity and leisure uses will infiltrate the commercial space. While this is not a town or city centre location, the built density of the space will be higher than would be expected for such a location, and it will have a campus feel. It is not just about bricks and mortar."

The Golden Valley Development will be located in West Cheltenham opposite GCHQ, providing over 3,700 new homes, almost 12,000 new jobs and 2 million sq ft of commercial space. At the heart of the Development will be Cyber Central, the UK’s first 24/7 cyber hub, offering new office and social spaces for the town.
